You can donate money

The Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center of Scotland County is a non-profit center dedicated to serving the public.

We depend on the generousity of Public and Private foundations, as well as individuals like you to make our efforts happen. We provide Crisis support, Emergency Shelter, Advocacy, Training, Prevention programs, and many more services to the citizens of Scotland County.

You can Donate Items to Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

We pray that none of you have ever been homeless, or know the feeling of having had to leave all of your belongings and the being faced with the challenge of establishing a new home and life with only the clothes on your back. This is the reality faced by many domestic violence and sexual assault victims, when they leave their abusers.

Many of these families have only the clothes on their backs after escaping the life-threatening dangers in their homes. They are willing to leave behind the material items of their lives because their safety and their children’s safety are more important than things.

Grace House helps with emergency shelter, food, creating a safety plan, job search, and children education and all the other needs. We also help victims find new housing and reestablish their lives with the basics. Many of these items come from donations from Grace House supporters.

If you would like to give these families help in creating a home in which they can feel safe and secure, here are a few guidelines.

Donation to DVRCC and Grace House are Tax Deductible

DVRCC and Grace House is a charitable, non-profit organization. All donations to it, including used household items and clothing, are acknowledged with a receipt suitable as evidence that the donation qualifies as a deduction to a charitable organization.

Steps to Donate Items to DVRCC and Grace House

  • First of all Call First

  • Please only bring donations/items Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that our administrative assistant can log your donations and give you a receipt.

  • We have limited space to store donated items and our need for particular items varies from week to week. Therefore, we require that all potential donors call the Shelter before delivering the items. Call 910-276-5505.

  • Sometimes we may ask you to keep items (beds and furniture, etc) until we have room to store them or until a family is ready to use them. In this case, we will record the item you have to give and your name and phone number. Then we will call you when the family is ready to receive them.

  • In the case of larger items like beds and furniture, we may ask you to deliver the items directly to another location so that we can avoid handling them twice. This could be more convenient for you also if the family that receives the item lives in your area.
